This book project is about creating the drawings that are missing from history books, and revealing the forces that have shaped the built environment around us. In Berlin, historic walls dating back to the city’s beginnings have been the strongest forces to form the physical environment, even if they have now vanished from view. The drawings in this book are a personal dialogue, analysis, and interpretation of historic texts and maps relating to these walls. They draw distinctions about being inside and outside a city, highlight the way borders connect uses, locate now demolished walls in the present-day fabric, and illuminate their ongoing impact. By using cartographic and architectural notations as a form of text, the drawings confront physical space, and ask questions about our world.

Details: 176 Pages, English and German Language, introductions by Diane Lewis and Olaf Briese, published by Archive Books. Distributed by Anagram.
